Douglas B-26B - (A-26B) "Invader" (scan - 1996)

Developed as follow-up to A-20 Havoc. Fastest and most versatile bomber of WWII. 1944, A-26 raced Mosquito for distance of 1000 miles and finished 20 minutes ahead. Douglas began design of 3 experimental models 1941. After WWII, A-26 continued on active duty; 1948 redesignated B- 26. Won acclaim in Korea and served in Vietnam as night bomber. Flew more than 53,000 sorties over Korea, mostly at night; targets were troop concentrations, vehicles, rail lines, and airfields.
