    The SM.79 was most important Italian bomber of World War II and established a reputation that contrasted with most Italian weapons of the day. It was a tough three-engine aircraft that was originally designed as a fast passenger aircraft. It saw service in the Spanish Civil War and served on all fronts in World War II, where Italy was involved.
